Once upon a time, a sweet friend gifted me a jar of fresh strawberry freezer jam and changed my life forever. Somehow, I had only been exposed to store bought strawberry jellies and jams and as much as I love strawberries, those just never worked for me. Grape jelly only on my PB&Js please and thank you.
But real strawberry jam… talk about a delicacy. There is just nothing like it. It really is the closest thing to getting a fresh picked berry in the dead of winter.
Truth me told, I’m a bit intimidated by “canning.” I have goals to get more into that but this jam is super easy and fail-proof (at least for about 10 years for me. There was one year I used the wrong pectin and it was a little runny but still tasted perfect) and since it’s freezer jam, it’s a much safer “canning” experience it’s a great way to start preserving food.
This recipe is so easy and much quicker than you would expect but it is worth every ounce of effort because it may just be the most delicious jam ever.
Find the full recipe below and a few helpful hints to help make it the very best, but it’s worth repeating that you must start with the freshest, best berries you can get your hands on. Do not refrigerate them, make your jam as closely to fresh picked as you can. You’ll thank yourself all winter long!
