DIY Sink Scrub

It is a daily struggle to keep our kitchen clean. I'm a messy cook by nature but we also eat most meals at home and I make most things from scratch so you know that means our sink works overtime. There are days when I clean in out just to start over but all this means I sure do appreciate a clean sink when I can get it.

I've used about every "sink scrub" out there and they're all fine. I would say most are effective but the scents are either limited or down right offensive or they're over all too expensive to justify. So you know where this is going, I made my own. The recipe is below but just to prove how simple it is, you only need baking soda, our amazing room spray, and a squirt of your favorite dish soap. This is the real key to get our sinks real clean (and everything else for that matter!) and you can literally use it hundreds of times. Grab the recipe below and a few hints and links to follow.

  • Without a doubt, the MVP of this "recipe" is our   Non-Scratch Scrubbing Pads. They are a cleaning game changer and not just for scrubbing sinks but anything that needs a little extra scrubbing without being too abrasive. I don't know anything that gets dough off a mixer bowl as well as these do and that is about the stickiest mess you can get. They are non-scratch but be sure to test them on delicate surfaces to be sure first
  • Smells make such a difference in a clean kitchen and our Favorite Room Sprays are key here. A little goes a long way and the you can feel safe about using these in your home.
  • I don't like an overpowering dish soap scent, I know no one is surprised by that. I stick to unscented or something lightly citrus or herby... scents that are naturally in the kitchen (I do not want to eat off of dishes that smell like laundry detergent or dryer sheets!) For this reason I think Orchard or Blood Orange are perfect for this scrub but really any of our scents are clean and fresh with a lightly scented or unscented dish soap.
  • Love this? You'll also love our DIY Counter Spray! Grab the recipe and essentials here.

**Let me repeat this one, be sure you test first and follow any specific instructions for your own sink. Ours is stainless and nearly indestructible but  every surface is different and while this should be perfectly safe, please test first!
