The Easiest Three Ingredient Counter Spray

I have used just about every cleaner ever made… all the smells, all the chemicals, all the “not chemicals.” I cleaned as a job. In college, I even had the most random job of supervising the dorm bathroom cleaners which once meant going to Walmart and literally purchasing just about every cleaning product available (using a university owned credit card!)  to see what could best purify and sanitize the nasty shared dorm showers. All this to say: while my house is never quite spotless, I know a few things about cleaners.

I am still just as enamored with my beloved E-Cloths as when I first started using them but they left me missing the just right scent of a really good cleaner. I am arguably a little too picky about scents. I’ve worked so hard to get most synthetic fragrances out of our home (I mean, we’ve built a natural candle empire  that is so good!) but I really just wanted a nice smelling cleaner to spray on the counters and wipe down… almost like tucking in the kitchen for the night with a perfect pillow spray.

To make a very long boring story slightly less long and boring (too late, right?) here is my list of very reasonable demands…

  1. Natural scent and ingredients
  2. Made in the US
  3. Reasonable price + shipping expenses
  4. Pretty, effective packaging
  5. Customer service that answers your questions (I eliminated my favorite prospect because they ignored me!)

As I tried to narrow down to the “good enough” choice that met most of my requirements, I was left asking myself “Why would I spend $20+ a bottle when I could just make it myself?” So I did!  I’ve been using this for weeks and it’s better than I hoped for. I just worked it in quietly like it was nothing new and both my boys comment about how good it smells!  It’s THREE ingredients that I’m comfortable using and satisfies ALL my demands. So let's get to that "recipe." You won't believe how easy it is!

(if you're on a mobile device hold down the recipe below to save; on a computer just right click)

Ironically I’ve tested a lot of towel combinations with this and here is what works best for each situation. We have black honed granite (i.e. not shiny) so you may want to test what’s best for you counters

  • Regular Clean Up: General Purpose E Cloth DRY. Just mist the spray and wipe clean.
  • Spills and/or sticky spots: a paper towel then repeat with the e-cloth for the shine. If you need a little scrubbing help, the Non-Scratch Scrubbing Pads are amazing.

All the extra you might need right here

  • The Very Best Hand Soap: All the scents would be so good with this spray! I will say this is not a "cheap" hand soap but these bottles last forever. Per use they are probably cheaper than your store brand not so good smelling option.

  • Mason Jar Sprayer Lid: Works on any size standard mouth mason jar.
  • General Purpose E Cloth: these work so good on just about everything. I like to leave one in the car for cleanups, too!
  • Non-Scratch Scrubbing Pads: Sometimes we need a little extra cleaning power and these do the trick!
  • Granite and Stone E Cloth:  This set will help clean those counters up with or without the counter spray. You'll love them for all natural stone!
  • Gold Funnel: makes pouring easier and is pretty. What more could you want?

**Let me repeat this one, be sure you test first and follow any specific instrucions for your own counters. Every surface is different and while this should be perfectly safe, please test first!
