It's almost time...

We start next week is here is how to get ready…

Monday is the day! Are your ready to spend just a few minutes each day working toward making the holiday season work a little more smoothly? Here are just a few things that will set you up for a great challenge…

Before you begin...

  1. Grab your calendar. It’s the number one tool for this. I’m old school and prefer my paper calendar all day, every day but I also like to print  a blank one I can mess up and work things out in.
  2. Find somewhere for your notes. It can be your notes app on your phone, a new journal just for this purpose, a fresh note pad or scratch paper you can keep up with you you’ll need to collect your thoughts so collect the items to do that (might I suggest these pens too?)
  3. Choose how you will follow. I’m going to go into details daily on social media  and our blog right here. This way of you try not to scroll too much (I will be asking you to take a least a one day week break this month!) There is an easy way to still follow along.
  4. Talk to your people: Tell them what you’re doing and why. There will be a few days where you need to discuss plans and priorities so if you are not typically an “early Christmas person” you may want to warn them you have not lost your mind but you’re just preparing everyone for the season.
  5. Commit. This will totally make a difference in how you approach the Christmas season. Most tasks will take you 5 minutes but all those minutes each day will add up to peace during the season

But before we part ways today, let’s talk about how the weekends are going to work. We’re doing it now, even before the challenge starts so you can prepare yourself.

I’m just going to come out and say it: You cannot do it all.

You might be super-human at your ability to do “most” things. You may have written books on your skills and methods. Your picture may be in the dictionary beside “most amazing, accomplished, do all the things, type A on the planet.” Your to do list might always be a done list.

But if you are in fact human, you cannot do ALL the things ALL the time. It’s just science or something like that.

So, I’m choosing for you. That may sound bossy and I’m ok with that. But this is the plan:  for this challenge you’ll have a short reading each Saturday then I am asking you to give up social media, scrolling or whatever each and every Sunday. That’s it.

You’re here, you’re reading this. That means you are engaging with some sort of social media. You are giving your time and attention to it which is not a bad thing. But we have a tendency to lose our balance with these things. A quick phone pickup can too easily become a large chunk of time. We won’t even go into how screens effect us physically but we know those are facts.

So just for this month, just on Sundays… give up the scroll. You’ll be fine, I promise.

We are getting started on Monday so meet me right back here for your first assignment!
