Four Simple Fall Decor Ideas

31 days fall seasonal decor

I love pumpkins. I am not ashamed. Give me all the pumpkins, mums, candy corn, boots and sweaters… FALL IS MY FAVORITE and I am fully aware that  I’ll tell you way too many times but I love it that much.

But I get that you might not all feel me on that and it’s ok, more candy corn for me! But I think we can all agree that things in our homes need to shift with the seasons. You don’t have to have a single pumpkin to Fall-ify your space. Here are 4 ideas to help you get started

  1. Color: Warm things up a bit. I love black, white and gray but when the temperatures start dropping, I like to  add some warmth… copper mugs and amber glasses on my kitchen shelves, more oranges in the fruit bowl, maybe even a touch of earthy brown here and there. As the cool blues and greens of summer fade away, add warmer tones here and there for your inside space to follow.

TREND ALERT: I’ve been seeing lots of pinks and burgundies for fall. Add a throw, pillow or even books in that color family to warm things up.

  1. Texture: Summer needs to be cool and breezy but in Fall we can start layering things back in. Think bout what you wear in the Fall… Chunky knits, leather, plaids, flannel, denim. Same applies for your pace! Trade in the light and airy for textures to cozy up for Fall.

  1. Smells: Our sense of smell is most closely tied to our memories so be sure to treat your nose too! While I love popping my favorite oils into the diffuser, there is something about the warm glow of a candle as Fall approaches. This year I grabbed a candle from Target… and all the Mrs. Meyers Pumpkin scented items. I’m not big on super smelly hand soap but I feel like I get to celebrate fall every time I wash my hands!

  1. Pumpkin if you want to! Nothing says Fall like our favorite squash! Go all orange or find something more muted. I am loving white, soft blue and gold for this year but there are so many pretty colors out there and you can always paint your own. Those “carvable” faux pumpkins are great for that and then you can reuse them every year.

Do Fall your way, whatever that is, but don’t miss this time to cozy things up and celebrate the best season! Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ll be eating candy corn for the rest of the day.
